i was wondering if someone could tell me what paint i can white washing my mums new aviary because its untreated pine would be safe for the birds. i was thinking of using water based paint like dulux or something, ill dilute it right down in water and just use it to protect the timber joins and stuff from the weather being that its outside. the aviary is going to have indian ringnecks in it.

Look for a no-VOC (volatile organic compound) paint. Also, if you can find one that has a green seal, or similar eco-friendly notice on the label you can be fairly sure it will be safe for birds. As a rule of thumb, if the paint is safe for children, it's safe for birds.
