Owning a pair of Zebra Finches...

my first post! i have a question and thought this would be the best place. i have no immediate plans to get another bird after the recent passing of our budgie but if the opportunity comes along i've always liked to own a zebra finch. as they're a cage bird that rely on other finches for company i'd only consider having a pair. the thing is i dont really want them mating and bringing up chicks. i've read they will only have chicks if you provide a nest box so problem solved, right? just dont give them a nest box?
what are your thoughts on keeping a pair without a nest box? im sure they MAY mate but are the chances reduced minus the nest box? is it ok to keep a pair without letting them breed? is it a better idea to keep 2 males? also, fyi, if i had chicks i could rehome them through a local pet store or an online pet site i've used in the past. i just wouldn't want it to become a regular thing!

With most species I would agree with the no nest theory, but not with this one.

the reason i dont want a breeding pair is simply because im no expert and dont take these matters likely. ocassional chicks maybe but nothing more!
thanks again to all on the thread
