Remi has been super lovey lately. She'll sit on my shoulder and preen me by the hour... and whenever I touch her back or belly, she goes through the motions of regurgitation (luckily without giving me a "gift"). I've learned to avoid these areas on her now. She's been a little more feisty than normal, but overall behaves very well... I love her stubborn, bold nature anyways She also has been in and out of her snuggly hut like crazy lately, and has put a couple holes in the bottom only to tear out the cardboard bottom and shred it into tiny pieces. I know a lot of owners would encourage me to remove it from the cage if she was acting like this with it, but it's the only "toy" she really plays with and it's her most prized possession.... she sleeps in it every night, as well. If she thinks she's nesting, I want to let her do what feels natural to her, as long as she's still behaving nicely around people and other birds.... which she really is. She's never laid any eggs in the time I've had her, and her old owner actually thought she was a boy for the 7 years she had her, so no eggs then, either. If she did begin to lay, I would definitely remove the tent as well. She went through a hormonal period like this last year, but more in the spring to late summer time frame, and she was much more moody (probably because she was still new to my family at that point).

I'm having similar problems with my Zoe. Today she decided to masturbate on my hand. She is three and my concern is that she will stimulate herself to ovulate and then that brings up the fear of egg-binding. I know 'tiel's are know for laying, I had a vet call them the chicken of the parrot world, but I don't know about caiques.
