Getting Poop off hardwood floors
Posted 09 March 2011 - 05:29 PM
I am living with a friend of mine and the birds room has hardwood floors. In come places the varnish is long gone, and it's just wood, other places you can see the varnish.
Now my birds have pooped pretty much every where on that floor in the years that I have been living here .. and now I am moving this spring .. and need to get rid of the whitish "stain" that has been left behind.
I've tried steam cleaning it off, no go! Soap and water - no go ...
Is there anything that anyone can think of?
And, it doesn't have to be "animal friendly" because I will be boarding my parrots (and cat and dog) two days before I leave, and can use something that is not birdie friendly to clean the floor.
Thanks very much!

Actually, for blood and other protein based stains, before you try water, pour hydrogen peroxide. it won't discolor the pants and it doesn't have to look like it is gone now, but when you wash it, it will come our easily because the proteins are denatured.
I can vouch for that as well! I work part time as a vet tech for a vaccination clinic and I'm always getting blood on me. The first time the vet sprayed me down with peroxide I was surprised but not I run for the peroxide myself.
