He was very nippy , but as a welder I have tough skin on my fingers and lots of time. After being with us for one day he now steps up and coo's at me. If I leave the room he jumps on the floor and comes looking for me.
He doesn't want anything to do with my wife and has nipped her already, he is also completely scared of my 2yr old and screams and jumps to the opposite side of the cage when he is near.
I noticed the bad smokey smell on him tonight and I'm trying to figure out how you get that off him.......Any thoughts?

He is very cuddly with me,I wish he would allow everyone to experience him the way I do.
I haven't taken any pictures yet but I will...

I have birds that are the same way, they just pick their people. Our Green Cheek is the most cuddly guy towards my husband but dislikes me, and will bite me. I am the one that feeds and cleans his cage though, giving him toys.
Both Sun Conures prefer me, but dislike my husband. He is making progress with the one we've had the longest, he is allowing some petting at times but it's rare.
The new one, that I just happened to get yesterday, has been very sweet towards me, a few bites but not bad. He did try to get my husband though during their introduction, but seems alright with women..
Children and other animals freak him out though.
Give it time though, he may warm up to your wife. See if he'll take any "special" treats from her. Talking to them seems to help too.

Homer has steped up for my wife two times (his beak scares her) once while I was out of the house and once in my presence.
He is not so skittish when my 2yr old approaches his cage but I haven't allowed him to go any closer yet.
Homer is not friends with Tinkerbell and went in for a nip when they were on the play stand together.
He has plenty of out of cage time and in the evening I sit and play with him while watching tv.
While scratching his head he makes all sorts of little peeps and coo's and nuzzles my fingers with his beek. He also opens it wide and closes it in quick succesion. I don't really know what this is all about.
As a side note to this story as I mentioned my wife has been making friends with Homer by way of blueberries. I had to go out and she deciede to let him out of his cage and gave him a blueberry which he ate on his playtop cage. He decided to go and thank her, so he jumped off his cage (clipped) and went looking for her. I recieved a call on my cell phone of my wife in a panic telling me Homer was trying to get her toes and he is following her around. i told her he is looking for love and to tell him to step up, she said nooooooooo and thet he was scaring her. The next thing she said was he was climbing up a blsnket on to the couch she was on and he is sitting on her let "(OH MY GOD WHAT SHOULD I DO " she asked my responce.......pet his head of course.
