I was told by many of my Aussie mates that to find and film Scarlet-chested parrots would be one tall tall order. I didnt even know whether to try or not. But I took a risk and flew to the outback regions north of Adelaide to find them. Thanks to an old 10 year old report of where a mate had seen them I stumbled upon at least 2 males in the hot desert scrub!
In all of this desert scrub which goes on forever it seems I lucked out and found some wild Scarlet-chests!
One poor little guy was so hot at 47 deg C that the only thing he could do to escape the heat was to burrow into the sand to keep cool. I thought perhaps others might enjoy pics of this adventure. I ended up with about 4 min of footage for my DvD series on Aus parrots thanks to this cooperative little beaut!
