Anyway, we watched the DVD that it came with... But the harness seemed easy enough to put on. Izzy didn't seem scared of it, she just seemed to wonder why we kept touching her with it. LOL. We tried bribing her with peanuts to put her head into the harness, but she was still a little confused. Eventually, after ten minutes we managed to put the harness on her. Needless to say, I don't think any bird particularly cares for it -- especially the first time. We just tried to keep her distracted with peanuts. We let her wear it for a little bit then took it off because we didn't want to overdo it.
A few hours later, we decided to see how easy it would be to put it back on her. She seemed to cooperate a little bit more this time and five minutes later we walked out the front door to see how she would react to the outside. Surprisingly, she wasn't totally freaked out! We even took her to the park across the street for a little while. I was stunned! She didn't seem nervous or scared at all, just kind of checking everything out.
All in all, it was a pretty good day. I never in a MILLION YEARS thought I would be taking her out the first day we got our harness.
Right after putting the harness on her.
First time out the front door.
