My bird eats seeds as well as pellets. Just wondering if anyone knows how to sterilize them? Years ago, a vet told my mom that she could microwave them (a plate full at 5 minutes high power). Anyone know if this is correct or any other methods? Thanks!

It's best to avoid buying seed that's laden with bacteria and mold in the first place. Clean fresh seed from a reliable source doesn't need to be sterilized, and most seed sold for pet birds is OK. The quality standards are lower for wild bird seed and it's recommended to avoid this seed for your pets.
