I have a little male parakeet my friend found outdoors in rough shape. I took him in and named him Pip. I meant it to be a temporary situation, but he has turned into such a happy bird that I really enjoy having him around. He is now a fully feathered well fed little guy who sings and chirps all day. I also have a pet conure and caique, who monopolize my time. It's not fair to leave Pip alone, although he is in the living room and has the best view of the house (views of the city, yard and wild birds). I would like to get him a friend, but I dont know what sex. I would prefer a baby parakeet, but I wouldnt know what sex it would become. I wouldnt house them together until I was sure they got along, but I think Pip would take to a new bird wonderfully. He is fascinated with my parrots, and always trying to groom my green cheek conure.
Would a baby (sex unknown) or adult female be best?
