Help needed PLEASE: Galah (Rose-breasted cockatoo) vs. Eclectus
Posted 16 August 2011 - 01:16 AM
So I've been researching both parrot species and read almost everything about them. I know everything that is to know about them (theoretically and not practically) but the thing is, I still can't decide which would make a better family pet. We don't have babies in the family (oldest girl would be 16). These have their pros and cons and the same thing applies for the others. So after my many days, weeks, and months of research, here's what I came up with:
Galah: very cuddly, but not as cuddly as the other types of 'toos.
Eclectus: not that cuddly
Galah: can be noisy and scream, but not nearly as loud as the bigger 'toos
Eclectus: can be extremely loud, but not know to be screamers
Galah: a good candidate for trick training
Eclectus: not very much
Galah: might be a bit needy
Eclectus: relatively independent
Galah: not a very good talker
Eclectus: amazing talkers, if the choose to be
Both are messy and require special diets.
Those are the main points I considered. I cannot make up my mind or begin to think how amazing birds they both can. I cannot judge without trying, so I'm out here to ask the experts.
Thanks everyone and I'm open to any opinions. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
vs. (disregard this, just trying them out )
