Brendand, quakers are typically $150-$300 USD ($194-387$ NZD) and up here, while cockatiels are typically within the $25-$150 ($32-$194 NZD) price range.

I have a breeder that I got my birds from, the Quakers run $200 - $400 depending on color and age. The cockatiels are $120 each. I know that may sound expensive but the breeder has hand fed, and hand trained all of her birds. That means a lot when they can come into your home and you can immediately handle them without any fear on their part. Quakers are very unique and constantly entertaining. There is not a day that goes by that Lucky doesn't make us laugh at something. They are usually good talkers, but like all birds there are some that wont say 2 words!! Well worth looking into.

Where do you live at? I did notice when we went to the Bird Expo last month in Denver, there were some cheaper birds but I know the reputation of my breeder. Also I know there are others who have driven more than 4 hours to get a bird from her. This tells me she is one of the best in this area. There are some foundations in Denver that I may check into at a later date. Here is a picture of my 3 babies. The cockatiels are 8 & 9 mos. the Quaker is 1 1/2.
