You are doing the right thing by keeping an eye on him when he's out with her. No sense taking chances.
An angry mature female will hurt a male if she doesn't want his attention. I have a feeling she is quite a bit older than him, right? Like, many years? If so, you need to be patient and let them make friends at a very slow pace. It may take a year or more. Just watch her and separate them until she decides to be nice to him. Once you see her trying to feed him or asking him to feed her, you can relax more. If he were an older, experienced male who was used to female Eclectus you wouldn't need to worry because he would know to scoot out of the way when she gets aggressive. Since you think he is just a little over a year, he will need you to keep him safe from the little red queen.
