It's better to prevent it from happening then having to endure it until it stops. (if it does)

Not the best approach to trying to teach a parrot not to bite. Nor is the earth quake method, or ignoring bites the best. Here's the top 3 reasons that most birds bite.
- Don't want to do what you are asking of them/They don't understand what you are asking of them
It's better to teach them than to try and "rule" them.

I really like the website behaviorworks.org which contains free articles written by Dr Susan Friedman on bird behavior/training, and is all focused on positive reinforcement and changing the environment. The environment I feel is one of the biggest if not the main factor in many problem behaviors in birds! Good luck!
