I have a 5 year old female cockatiel and I'm concerned about her. For the last few days, I've noticed her sitting with her tail feathers lifted or angled somewhat upwards and I'm concerned about why she would be doing this. I've never seen this behavior from her before. Anyone have any idea why she might be doing this? She has a very large cage, so I'm sure it's not a matter of feeling cramped. It's not normal for her, but nothing else seems out of place. Just not sure what the issue could be. . .

No, she has never laid an egg. I wondered if that was possibly the issue. I started to worry about egg binding and if that may be the cause, but she seems back to her normal self for the moment and I don't see any swelling or anything else that would indicate that was the problem. However, while I was out last night, my husband said she freaked out (flapping wildly around the cage) and making a noise he'd never heard her make before, but it only lasted a minute or so. This morning, she seems perfectly normal. Don't really know what to think. . .
