I was told that Kiwi steps up, but when we tried to get her to when we first met her, she bit. She has this stick we use to get her to step up on and move her around. She bit my finger badly once, and has bit my boyfriend a few times when he has tried to handle her wearing an ovenmitt and towel wrapped around his arm.
She is very fun though, I can sing to her and shell dance, she loves showers with a spray bottle and will take snacks from my hand. She usually stands on the cage door and sometimes she will fly at me when I walk by. Also, if I stand there and talk to her, she leans towards me like she wants to step up on me!!! She has clipped wings.
How should I go about getting her to step up on my arm? I'm reluctant to do it because she bites terribly hard. I think she does like me over my boyfriend. I'm jealous that previous foster homes say she stepped up but she won't for me.
Also, yesterday I tried to get her to step up on her stick and she used it as a boost to fly at me!! Not sure why she flew at me? Does she want to step up on me badly? Or attack? So confused!!!!
I wanted to take the patient approach but she is doing these things and I'm not sure what to do.

These birds are still getting used to their new home and that can sometimes take months.
Focus on the positive behaviors you are seeing now. Make sure you praise them a lot and keep giving treats.
I think the towel and oven glove may scare her a lot!!
Are they both in the same cage?
When she flies at you what happens? Does she land and bite?
Start reading up on behavior. Some places to start are Amazon Parrots: A complete owners manual and A Guide to Companion Parrot Behavior.
Dr. Susan Friedman also has great classes about behavior. Check into those!
