No I am not dumping my bird for another.. Here is the situation.
I recently rescued a very sweet Umbrella Cockatoo because he needed my help. Only trouble is he does not get along with my 20 yr old citron that I love dearly. He is terrified of him and due to this, my home is not relieving all of the stress this poor guy has endured. My citron is my best friend and I don't want him to suffer or be hurt either. I wish it could work out but the U2 gets too upset and aggressive even at the sight of him.
Here's what I know about this U2...He is male, he was imported before 1992 so is at least 19 yrs old I don't think much older than that. He is very tame, active and playful, fine around my other birds and my kids & pets, just not ok with another cockatoo. He's not very loud as far as cockatoos go and is good about being alone in a room (inside his cage). He can be very mischevious if left alone out of the cage and will look for you, if he can't find you he may decide to play with (tear up) your stuff instead! you can tell he is just dying to be loved and cuddled by anybody.. He's so sweet. He is plucked some but we are working on that and doing pretty good. He was very malnourished, fully flighted with really long nails and very dirty when I got him. He was lost for quite some time. We have not been able to track down his owner.
I really wanted to keep him... my citron was very excited to have another big bird around to talk to. I wish they could have been friends or at least tolerate eachother in the same room. This is why I'd like another bird, my boy was so happy even though the U2 wanted to chew him to shreds.
What I would like to do is find this guy a nice, happy home. It would be awesome if I could find me another bird that won't mind my citron and who might even enjoy him. One that is similar or a little smaller in size is more manageable for me. The type of bird and age doesn't really matter, only that it is friendly. I'd be so happy to pass this guy on to someone that cares and will love him and give him a forever home, and if I can find a compatible bird to give my love and a forever home to at the same time, it would be all the better.
I'm not comfortable with shipping him so you must be able to meet in Southern CA. PM me if interested. Thanks!
