I don't know if what appears to be, actually is and I don't want to spend money on something that is essentially, a scam.
I was wondering if anybody has tried the DVD's from this website? Are they effective? Are they worth the cost? Is this a respected and reputable website?

You can get the same information, if not better, from well respected trainers for a lot less! I've heard Bird Tricks learn from other trainers then use that info to promote their own training. A lot of their older stuff is based off of learned helplessness (aka the "dominance theory" - *NOT* recommended), although I have heard that some of the new stuff is based off of positive reinforcement. Still wouldn't recommend them!
If you want a well known, respected trainer, stick to Barbara Heidenreich, Melinda Johnson, Karen Pryor and Susan Friedman. I have books or DVD's from the first three, and honestly can't recommend them enough! Susan Friedman offers classes on behavior that you can take, if you wanted to, or she has a bunch of articles written up on her website! (more "techy" than lamens terms, but still overall good info!)

Monica is right about the marketing methods used by Birdtricks they have also been known to steal blogs of good trainers.
