Well i've been trying to work with my bird Nero who is attached to his cage...when i say attached every time he sees it and is within reach he wants to fly away and get inside as quickly as possible, even biting and hissing to keep me away....but if he's on top of the cage of his own will or outside playing he's perfectly fine and will step up without a fuss. it's only once he sees his cage that he panics and tries to get inside. if he's inside he won't step up and will avoid me even if i offer his favorite treat as soon as he knows i want to take him out. however as soon as i back off he climbs right out and wanders up to the top....i've been doing a bit of training on my own where i put him on his play perch and slowly walk him back to his cage, stopping and rewarding him for staying calm and putting him back on the play perch if he flies off or tires to climb up my arm to get over to the cage. are there any suggestions on how this could work better? i'd like to be able to calmly reach inside and pick him up just as easily as everywhere else....
