going backwards in training?

Rue, my super cute cockatiel, has been acting odd lately, it seems that his training is going in reverse. A little while ago I was able to take him out and have him stand on my hands, no problems at all. As of late, however, he has gained a fear of hands. He used to just take caution with hands and was wary of them, but now if my hands get anywhere near him or his cage, he hisses and backs away. I am always very careful with him, never pushed him to get on my hand, always tried to follow his pace, and if he gets grumpy I let him be until he comes over ready to try again. He gets on my shoulder no problem and he tries to steal my glasses off my face, so he isn't scared of my face at all, just my hands. I'm not sure what has gotten into him, but all things I did to get him used to my hands at first aren't working anymore. I'm at such a loss! He gets so playful sometimes, rubbing his head on his toys, and I wish I could give him rubs too, he seems to love it, I just wish he would let me Any advice sure would be appreciated!

Thanks Monica! That is exactly what I've been doing with him, just after posting this yesterday I had Rue eatting millet off the back of my hand. I balled it into a fist to make the fingers not so scary, and he seemed calmer with that. I started opening my hand a little bit each time I put my hand back up to him and that seemes to be working at this time so YAY! I'm just gonna take it slow and keep giving him my love and see what happens!
