I'm rehoming my beloved babies-- we are moving to Australia and they allow no exotic species. I'm very sad about it, but hopeful for a new loving owner.
Caiques in general are hilariously funny little clowns: playing nonstop, singing, wrestling each other-- they are endlessly entertaining.
The caiques are Galileo (4yrs) and Newton (2yrs). They are DNA sexed males, and are biologically first cousins(they have the same grandparents). When we wanted to get Galileo a new friend, we let him pick the bird and it was love at first sight. They cuddled up together immediately and we haven't been able to separate them since. Sure, they squabble on occasion like any siblings, but they never ever hurt each other, so its best to let them work it out. They live in the same cage and have since day one.
They, especially Galileo, love being with people-- new people in particular. If a new person walks in my door Galileo HAS to go say hello and make a new friend. Every single person has fallen in love with him immediately upon picking him up. He's a lover. He wants only to preen you and ride around on your shoulder and chew the occasional shiny bauble. Also, he absolutely loves to play on his back on top of his cage and have his belly tickled, or wrestle with your fingers or with Newton. He loves to be pet and get scritches.
Newton takes a bit longer to warm up but when he does, he's all personality. He makes up his own little tunes to sing, and takes baths every single time he's out of doors (wearing his aviator), and then after 20 minutes of getting everything in the remote vicinity wet, he will "surf" on a towel for another 20 minutes. He's constantly playing, singing, or chewing something-- we lovingly call him "destructo", because anything made of paper or wood will be mincemeat as soon as he gets it. Since he's still 2, he's super rambunctious and needs to be reminded who's boss, but what caique doesn't? He doesn't really like to be pet on the back(I think he was grabbed alot when he was a baby at the bird shop!!), but he will surf you to let you know he wants affection, and will happily ride around on your shoulder or hand just like Galileo.
If you want to know more about them, or are interested in adopting them please contact me. I'm asking $950.
They come with a large "kings" cage, toys and food. Rehoming fee is 100% negotiable for the right person/family.
