Forums are always changing. You have the people who stick around regardless of what's happening elsewhere, you have people who join only to browse, some who join to ask a few questions and disappear, people who are "on and off" the forum, etc. As the people who stick around changes, so does the attitude of the forum itself.
Part of the reason that BB has become slow is because when the forum was last updated, not all members were able to log back in and were unable to figure out how to reset their passwords. Some, like RoyJoy, created new accounts. Others simply left. Some are still around.
What we need is some new people!

So dead, ish...?
i am the mod in one yahoo bird group. and our group had a lot of people posting then it gradually died down and at times no one posted for days, then weeks.
one of my friends talked me into joining facebook. and when i started adding friends from the bird group, i found them posting in facebook and not the bird group.
that could be part of your problem.
we have not found a cure, so we just blunder along. and the ones that stay are the ones that post.
