Hi everyone my name is Pam I'm a friend of wildirish'. I've been a member for several months now (Since I got my cockatoo Sydney) but have not made a single post just did a lot af reading so far.I have 2 birds Sydney a cockatoo and Trudy a cockatiel,2 American Bull dogs Jade & Knuckles 2 Children Erin(10) & Patrick (18) A tank full of fish (my son's ) and last but not least a husband (Mike) of 22 years  I should be insane already. My cockatoo was sold because he wouldn't breed so thats how we ended up with him. He's a sweet bird but doesn't like to step up only if he is on the floor or couch and wants back to his cage but it took 7 months to get him to do that he'll come willingly to you for a pet just not to step up he just tucks his head down for you to pet him we aren't in any hurry to make him trust us we let him do it at his speed no pressure here we have the rest of our lives to get him to come around and our kids too he's 8 years old or closer to 9 now so he has plenty of time he doesn't talk but however has learnt to bark like my neighbors most annoying dogs but its cute when he does it .His cage is located in front of my bay window that looks straight out in my front yard so he sees everyone coming and going and barks at them (better watch dog than the dogs are) . we enjoy him so much and it really doesn't matter if he ever talks he will always be a part of our family we are just glad we saved him from the man who wanted to breed him he had no toys and was fed once a week now he has toys ( is starting to play with some and is in love with the bird in the dish a silver dish that shows his reflection) is fed eveyday (Wont eat people food but we keep trying). Hes my pride and joy in case you can't tell. So I guess that is a good start on my family Hope you enjoy meeting my gang.
