This weekend I went out and bought two parakeets. Male and Female one is 14 weeks old and the other is 13 weeks old. How old do they have to be befor they start breeding? I asked a lady at pet smart and she told me that there is no age limt. Also does the color of a parakeet matter. I am wanting a green and a white keet to mate. I just dont know if they will because of their color.

If you allow the keets to breed too young the hen may become egg bound and die. They are just babies and should not be allowed to breed until they are at least a year old. Use this time to educate yourself on parrot nutrition and get them eating a good diet with fresh veggies. Healthy parents make healthy babies and the time you spend preparing them to be parents will rewarded.
