I just got a female canary for my male. Since I got her my male has stopped singing and being active. All day, both of them sit together on a nest, on top of each other, with no eggs. Is this normal? If this is a bad situation, I can return the female.

This is normal. When we got our canary, we asked he we should get him a female, and were advised if we wanted him to be active and sing, then no. If there is a female, they do not sing (they sing to attract a female) and will become less active and more breeding behavior will be exhibited.
