Just had one of those life altering moments.

Just by chance I stumbled upon this article and by the time I got finished reading it I was in TEARS. This story reaffirms and even instills new ideas into me about Zephyr. She's a female cockatiel, so will probably NEVER talk, at least not like that, but what this woman describes her African Grey saying is exactly what I feel that Zephyr has been saying to me the last couple days when I have to put her back in the cage, she just silently stands on the bottom of the cage looking out at me as I pass by, just standing there quietly waiting for me to come get her again and.... god, here I am crying again. It makes me so upset now to think about the first months or years of her life (don't know how old she actually is) just sitting alone and sad in the bottom of her little cage watching people come and go and no one caring. I try to do everything I can for her, but sometimes I feel it's not even enough when she gives me that sad little look from the cage. I need to stop thinking about these heavy subjects before I get all depressed. I can't wait for waking up time later today (it's almost 3 am) so I can give Zephyr the biggest (little) pet/scritch I can give her.
