Help Me Buy A Dremel
Posted 17 February 2010 - 11:04 PM
Last night, I'm talking to my husband and he says there is something I should buy. I say: "Ok Micah, what is it that you want me to buy for myself that you will end up using?" The usual wife to husband answer, right? He says: "A dremel." Of course, most women will think "oh my goodness." Well, little did he know what I thought about this. This was my reply, jokingly: "I should get a 200 piece accessory kit as well." He says, seriously: "Yes!" What he didn't know is that I have always wanted one of these, lol. It's just the crafter in me and I will also need one for making bird toys when I get my green cheek conure. So, since I know nothing about this, I am asking for help. Where is the best place that I can get one based on price and accessories?

The dremel I have is my little baby--super light weight and I can do just about anything with it. You just have to remember not to push or force it--it's the movement that does the work, not the pressure.
This is the one I have http://www.lowes.com...remel$y=12$x=36
But if that doesn't suit your fancy, go back and look at their other products...there is no reason to pay over 90 bucks for a dremel kit o.0
And corded is nice because you don't have to worry about charging...but it really depends on what you're planning to do with it. I use a dremel a lot when I'm making collapsible hoops, so it's nice to have a free range of motion and a super light tool.
Also, note: PLEASE do not use a dremel to trim your bird's nails if you don't fully know what you are doing. Dremels are loud and can be super scary...not only that, but it is not just any old dremel that they usually use. The speed and texture of the tool can vary greatly and it'd be way too easy to go to far with an overly powerful tool.
