So, I found a link on here that says which trees are and aren't good for making toys with on the bad side, is Sumac Trees, but when reading about them, it says that there is one good kind of Sumac - and, I've got it lol. These shrub like trees are gorgeous in the fall for those of you who haven't seen them (I don't know how wide spread they are) they're considered a weed to most, but I have always thought they were beautiful with their oddly twisted branches.
To the point: I would like to cut one down, and set it in a pot somehow and use the whole tree as a giant jungle gym (it would have to be fairly small as I'd have to get it upstairs and all scrubbed down). But, I may have a small dilemma, the bark is very VERY thin, and its almost velvetty. Is there anything I can coat the tree with like a laquer of some kind to give it a protective (and still bird safe) coat so as I don't need to remove the bark?
