Javan mynah baby, never stop begging for food! How?
Posted 29 April 2010 - 12:15 PM
I found a young Javan mynah chick on the floor. It begging for food and was wet.
Severely underweight and weak. So I think no futhur and brung home the baby. Placed it in to plastic box after drying it up
so, I feed it with normal handfeefing formula.
It keep begging and begging. I cannot allocate the crop and I'm not sure where all gge food has gone. Unlike parrot, this one, I really can't see weather the bird is ful
so, I don't know wheather to stop. It swallow 10ml and still bag for more, give another 2 ml, still begging, still can't allocate the crop. So I stop here. 2 hour later, he beg again so violently
any tips on this please

How is the chick doing now?

the chick isn't doing very fine. The chick is very thin and underweight. Attacked by red mites(treated) and is very weak.
he has broken leg
the chick is way way too young to leave the nest. It's not pinkie, but the wing and tail and feather aren't full. Not even enough for it to glide down. That's how he got his broken leg I guess
it can be steped by people as it's at the terminals where is almost full every evening and morning
when there are alit of people, there will be alot of crow and cat arround too
besides, the chick was dreanch by the very very heavy rain on that day
I would assume this chick stand no chance of surviving in such place at the very early stage

Perhaps you could try here? If they aren't close perhaps they may know of someone who is? Or could somehow help you?

Also some birds don't have a crop, the food just goes straight to the gizzard, though I am not sure if mynas fall into that category. On other birds the crop can be very small, which might explain why you couldn't locate it.
