New baby lorikeet with 1 year old lorikeet....will this work?

Just wondering your thoughts about introducing a 2nd lorikeet to my original....
Pepper is a happy, healthy somewhat spoilt rainbow lorikeet (almost 1 year old) who spends most of the day with me including showers, meals etc. (as I work from home) so he gets a lot of attention during the week. However I am not home much on the weekends and he is always extremely clingy on a monday when I return. He also gets very jealous and possessive of me even when I am talking to someone in a different room in the house - he screams.
I was thinking about getting a baby lorikeet to join the family so that Pepper has a playmate on weekends and when I am not home but I am worried that Pepper will either hate this new bird as he has bonded with me OR that the two birdies will have no interest in playing with me once they are together and may be less tame and playful.....
Pepper was very well socialised up to 4 months old when I bought him he hasn't had a chance to play with any other birds so I don't know how social he will be now. Any thoughts as to weather an addition would be helpful? Also I haven't had Pepper DNA tested but he is a very good talker already so I am assuming he is a boy, would it matter if I got a boy or girl addition...I don't want them to breed.
Has anyone done this, does it work?
