Well our baby blue and gold macaw will be ready to come home in about a month or so and we are SO excited! I saw some previous post about making your own bird toys and I LOVE the idea! I have plenty of spare wood various shapes and sizes laying around and food coloring (and a miter saw
) and was wondering what is the best way to dye wood to get that deep rich color? I've seen people saying sand it first dye it with Kool-Aid or Food Coloring, and then some baking them to set the color in. I don't plan on making a ton of these to sell or anything just want to make some awesome ones for my birdies to rip to shreds lol All the ones at the pet stores, I always think man these are so plain for THAT much money!!!!
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Also was curious as to where everyone gets there hemp twine rope? I found some really neat brightly colored twine at my fabric store but its awfully thin. Whats the thickest you can get it? And where? Thanks!
