Birds & baby food

I just have a quick question about feeding him. I have read about people adding some organic baby food to some fruit & veggie purees made for their Lorikeets. Is this okay? I was looking at mainly a few vegetables like butternut squash and sweet potato. The ingredients listed are just the vegetable and water.
Also, there are some baby foods that have Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) listed under the ingredients as well as the fruit/veggie and water. Is Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) an acceptable ingredient or should I stay away from it?

So far, he's gotten cantaloupe, apples, some alfalfa sprouts, pears, peaches, a few grapes, kiwi, pineapple... and then I snuck in some baby food of sweet potato and carrots. This week we are going to try out some butternut squash. I don't really eat sweet potatoes or cooked carrots myself, so it really helps out to get them in baby food form.
