My aunt lives near Hot Springs, AR and every summer when I went to her house she would have TONS of hummingbirds. In Texas, I only got to see a few different varieties and never in the amounts my aunt had in Arkansas!! But, it was always a treat to see them.

Texas actually has more hummingbird species than any other state (Arizona is #2 and New Mexico is #3) because they get some Caribbean hummingbirds in addition to many of the Western ones. But the Texas hummers are spread out across a wide area. Southern Arizona has the greatest number of species to be found in a relatively small area.
