I've been looking around to find any information on this, but what I have not found anything specific to quakers. If I've missed a website or a book that has this information, please let me know.

They are not breeder birds, but the male is protective of the female, as well as of the cage. They talk and will take treats through the cage bars. We would like to work with them more to be more people friendly, but I'm not sure that would be possible if they are housed together. Can they be worked with to be more people friendly if housed together?

I'd say 100% go for keeping them together! There are many who would be envious that they match so well ; )
