Firstly, I don't like the word "fid" the slightest. (Same thing goes for "fildren" and "fabies"... ugh)
Birds are wild animals, not our children. They should be treated with love and respect, but please, do not take them for human babies with feathers.
I have a Meyers parrot named Saga, hatched August 11, 2003, and a Medium Sulphur-crested Cockatoo named Yondo, hatched March 30, 2006. The breeder said he was an Eleonora, and that's what it sais in his papers, but someone who knows the breeder recently told me that he is really a hybrid between an Eleonora and an Abbott's Cockatoo, a subspecies of the Lesser Sulphur-crested, near extinction.
Also, this breeder didn't ask me squat... oh, wait, he did ask if I had a cage, and if I knew avocado is deadly - that's it. He just said that I would have a friend for life when I decided to get the cockatoo (Yondo), I could have been just anyone who knew nothing but that cockatoos are white birds, and he wouldn't have cared.
Note that this isn't just "some backyard breeder", this is a very respected breeder in swedish aviculture, who (among other things) controls the pedigrees of Red-lored and Lilacine Amazons in Sweden. So much for our modern aviculture...
I also had a Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoo called Egon. Hatched 1992, and came to live with me in early 2010. He and Yondo nowadays live with Jonas Wahlström, the owner of Skansen-Akvariet, a swedish zoo specialising in smaller exotic animals.
I also have a Scarlet Macaw, called Cirino, hatched in august 2008.
What other type of pets do you own?
Yondo hasn't added any friends yet.
