Birds, pygmy goats and scrapbooking and cruising!
Retiered Die Maker, Cruise Planner
My first bird was a pearl cockatiel purchased on purpose. My husband saw him and stated he would make good stew meat. We named him Stewie.
I have a B&G Macaw, Sky, that was on "sale" as he had turned a year old and had been terrorised in a Detroit pet store. I had gone to buy a conure. This bird started my learning and researching and finding out I didn't know anything and shouldn't have bought a big bird. When I was at my wits end and was going to return him, I found a helpful message board and we got thru it.
My third bird was a rehomed Umbrella cockatoo, Cody. Ours was the 4th home in 3 years.
The fourth was a rehomed an orange winged amazon, Newton. His Mom and Dad were to be married and move into a house. The wedding didn't come off and Mom, who owned him moved into and appartment and had to have a hip replacemnt, in her 20's. He ownes my DH.
Our fifth bird, our first girl, was an Yellow-crowned Amazon. She was a "cleareanced" bird from a pet store. I bought her when they promised that the store would no longer be carring large birds. She never thrived and we lost her 2 years later. It was found she had been feed metal and it finally puntured her air-sack. It broke my heart losing her and I had no plans to get any more birds.
Two days ago we went to see a Umbrella cockatoo named Roxy. The boy who had her, only 2 months, had gotten her from people that told him she was "molting". She was the sadist thing I've ever seen. She had plucked everthing but her head. I oftered to buy her so I could get her the vet care she needed. We have an appointment Monday morning with my Avian vet.
What other type of pets do you own?
