Guide to the Classifieds

At the top toolbar of every page there is a link to BirdBoard Classifieds. The Classifieds is a FREE section meant for the sale of birds, cages, toys, and miscellaneous other items. Before viewing or posting an ad in the Classifieds it is recommended that you review the Policies and Guidelines first.

Viewing the ads is quite simple. Once clicking on the Classifieds button at the top toolbar of any page, you will be directed to the Classifieds Guidelines, Rules & Policies page. From there you can easily click on VIEW ADS!. This link then redirects you to a page that shows the different categories of the Classifieds (Birds for Sale, Cages for Sale, Bird Toys for Sale, Misc) or the most recently added ads beneath the categories. You can either choose to look through the most recently posted ads or choose a particular category to search through.

Posting an ad can be a 3 to 4 step process. To make it simple, here are the steps listed in order to posting an ad:

Step 1: On the Guidelines, Rules & Policies page, click on POST A FREE CLASSIFIED AD.

Step 2: Choose the appropriate category for the object(s) or bird that you are selling.

Step 3: First box at the top is for the title or name of the object or bird that you are selling.

Next 3 boxes are optional for photos (i.e. if you have a photo of the bird or object(s) you are selling). Just click on the Browse… button and search your computer for the correct file(s).

The first box underneath the optional photos is for the quality of the object(s) being sold.

Sixth box down is the asking price of the object(s) or bird being sold. IF you are selling to the best offer made, type in ”0”.

The yellow box is meant for your zip code so that buyers (or sellers) know where you are located at (though it is currently not viewable).

In the box directly below the zip code box, you can choose how many days your ad will run before it is removed. Simply choose how many days!

In the large box, you can add in a description of the products, objects, or birds that you are selling. It is easiest for buyers or sellers if you include general information about the ad, where you are located, and whether or not you are willing to ship or meet within driving distance.

After you have added in a description, you can add in a few short keywords in the next box below for people searching for specific types of ads.



Once you have filled out all the fields appropriately, you can hit Submit. There are however optional choices to help advertise your ad and make it more noticeable. If you choose to promote your ad further, please be sure you have a valid Credit Card or a Pay Pal Account which you can get at http://www.PayPal.com.



Step 4: (optional) You can choose up to three optional boxes to help you to promote your ad. These include highlighting the ad, putting it in bold, or even italicizing it. Once you have chosen the optional ways to promote your ad you can then click on Submit. Once you click on “Submit”, you will be taken to a page which gives you the total amount that running your add will cost (it should be no than $1 max), and a button to ”Proceed to payment”. Once you click on the button you will be taken to a page to fill out a form for the payment method. Please be sure to thoroughly fill out the payment method of your choice. Once finished you can Continue and the ad will be posted.
